Bad News is Good News. But know when it's enough and when it's already nauseating.
I don't know why news programs are so into that Thrilla in NAIA, they called. It was a hell of a fight, though. It actually gave the blood rush that Cotton vs Mayweather fight wasn't able to provide. But the thing is, this actually got nothing to do with at least half of the country's need for awareness, well except for those Barretto and/or Santiago's fans if there still are. But I don't think they'd reach half of our country's population anyway.
So, what really happened? That, no one knows. And that, no one can answer.
It's Santiago's words versus Tulfo's. It's the actor's side versus the newsman's story. Who you're gonna believe in depends on who you think has lesser attitude issues, I think.
We all know that Santiago and Barretto both have records on being conceited. Barretto has been on top of the news just recently for bragging inside a bank, if I remember it right. And Santiago also has his share of presumptuous issues himself, according to some hear says. On the other hand, Tulfo brothers weren't known to be all gentle and nice. Not at all. They are brothers who, I feel, think that everyone is afraid of them. And now, they're using this what people call as "macho" thing in them to intimidate the Santiagos.
This has been brought to the courts already. The problem is, this would be too hard to prove. Either of the cases filed against both sides would be difficult to attest. I don't have any issues on this actually. I mean, the hell I care if Santiago hit Tulfo first or it was the latter who did it. That's their problem, not mine. What I just wanna point out is that this news isn't really news worthy at all.
The Tulfo brothers were reacting bad and threatening Santiago while the latter claims he's afraid of what these brothers can do to them. My Goodness! This could never get any better than this. People everywhere were, like, so eager to know whether who wins in this verbal brawl after the physical thingy that had happened days ago. And these media people are so eager, too, maybe to hand answers over them but behind it is their motive of getting the latest updates on this for who gets one gets higher ratings. You know media. This is their incurable disease.
The bad thing is, instead of making way for these two sides to fix things and cross gaps, these interviews on different sides of both sides only present more reasons for them to hate each other. And the story goes on and on and on and never ends at all. I wonder how many more nights would we be hearing "Anna", the self-confessed witness, beg for Tulfo to publicly apologize and how many more airtime would news programs waste on showing a devastated Claudine Barretto who seemed not to have any capability of speaking and defending herself.
I hate the idea that this news, if you are really considering it as one, was able to diminish the attention which should have been given to the impeachment trial. You know, people, the trial is back if you weren't aware. And I do think this deserves more time than that of Thrilla in NAIA issue and how that affected Santiagos' children.
The result of this impeachment is something that would affect our lives as Filipinos and we're not giving that damn attention it demands because we're too engrossed on asking who punched who first. Yeah, it's the media's job to inform people what really occurred between Santiago's group and Mon Tulfo but guys, let's give priority to those things that matter more. Not just because the issue is sensational means it should be given more time. There are a lot and I mean, a lot, of other social/economical/national/international problems and issues that need attention from the media for them to be brought up and heard by the Congress, the Senate and of course, by the Palace. And these issues are torn waiting because of this vain-made-big brawl just because we don't know how to classify the real news from mere bullshits.
